The Sacramento Children's Home (SCH), under the direction of Chief Executive Officer Roy Alexander, has been a constant in the Sacramento region since its doors opened in 1867. During its long tenure, the Sacramento Children's Home has provided shelter, care, and a future for thousands upon thousands of the most vulnerable children and families. Founded as a traditional orphanage, SCH has evolved into a nationally recognized leader in the prevention and treatment of child abuse. Its programs include two crisis nurseries, three family resource centers, and a special education school, all of which prepare children for a permanent foster care family or a return to their own families where possible. In addition, SCH Transition Age Programs help prepare foster children for a successful transition to emancipation at age 18. Despite many changes over the years, the outstanding staff at SCH remain devoted to the children and families in their care.
