Robertson, Hinton and Trinetta
Angels in Adoption 2005 - Illinois
Selected by Senator Richard DurbinHinton and Trinetta Robertson entered their foster care experience in 2003 with a large blended family of four teenage children. Both parents held full-time jobs: Hinton is a dock supervisor, while Trinetta is a childcare worker. Upon receiving information from Hephzibah's Group Homes, located in Oak Park, Illinois, about two boys who had experience multiple trauma and losses, the Robertsons quickly embraced them as their own. In addition to providing the two children with emotional and behavioral support to help them transition to their new home, Hinton and Trinetta have insisted on keeping the boys in frequent contact with their birth families. This has given the boys an ultimate sense of security; slowly attaching to their new family, but still maintaining biological family connections. In addition to their enlarged family, full-time jobs, weekly therapy and psychiatric appointments. family visits, and school meetings, the Robertsons have continuously provided a flexible, accepting, loving, and safe home for several foster children. Nothing else sums it up better than the words of a child who has experienced their care, "No matter where I go, I know they'll always be a family for me. I know I will always have them." After having witnessed the love and commitment teh Robertson family has shown for many, Hephzsibah Children's Association has been inspired to redefine the meaning of adoption to "a love and commitment for a child that knows no boundaries, embraces completely, and remains for a lifetime."
