Linda Roback demonstrates what the power of passion can do to provide loving families for abandoned children the world over. In February 2004 she began a grassroots organization called For the Children - SOS. WIth over 400 members, For the Children - SOS consists of concerned individuals and families who want to adopt, but are worried about the state of international adoption today. At the helm of this organization, Linda advocates for the international adoption of abandoned Romanian and Bulgarian children. She has met with the past two Romanian Presidents, and the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Romania, in an effort to find solutions in the best interests of the children. Linda also gained the support of many members of the U.S. Congress in trying to advocate for adoptive parents of children from Romania. For her tireless efforts, Senator Lieberman recognized Linda as one of Connecticut's Best in May 2005. Although she is extremely proud of the accomplishments of the members of For the Children - SOS, Linda says she is "proudest of her own adopted Romanian daughter, who represents every abandoned child - who struggles each day to overcome any amount of time in an institution and leave it behind."
