Angels in Adoption 2005 - Pennsylvania

Selected by Representative Melissa Hart

For over 20 years, Project STAR of Western Pennsylvania has been a devoted advocate for disabled children. As a nonprofit social service, adoption, and foster care agency, Project STAR has been successful in providing for children with special needs. The Project STAR Organization upholds the belief that all children, regardless of severity of medical, financial, or phsychosocial needs, are deserving of a safe home and family. To achieve their mission, Project STAR offers a variety of supportive services designed to equip new parents with knowledge, skills, support, and hands-on training needed to facilitate their child's special needs. The Project STAR Organization is composed of many dedicated and selfless staff members who frequently go beyond their call of duty to aid the families of disabled children. Their remarkable expertise has given Project STAR an outstanding reputation in the greater Pittsburgh area, and few have matched their excellence in child advocacy.
