David and Teresa Nance
Angels in Adoption 2005 - Florida
Selected by Representative E. Clay Shaw, Jr.David and Teresa Nance's motivation to become adoptive parents did not come overnight. The couple's love for children, especially children in transition and children in crisis, is very strong. After raising their two biological children to adulthood, the Nances chose licensed foster parenting to provide a loving, stable, and nurturing environment for children while they awaited permanency. During this time of fostering, the Nances felt they had been spiritually led to the children who now share their home. While at first their goal was only to foster, after meeting their children they could not let them go. In 2004, the adopted their two sons, Nathaniel (3) and Ephraim (2), and in 2005 they adopted their daughter Olivia (3). Teresa and David are proponents of keeping sibling groups together as demonstrated through their adoption of Nathaniel and Ephraim. Additionally, they are proponents of adopting children in general, regardless of race. They are not a family who has strict criteria for the type (race, age, etc.) of a child they can care for. They just want to provide permanency for children who are in need of a loving family.
