Daniel McKizzie

Angels in Adoption 2005 - Minnesota

Selected by Senator Norm Coleman

With great pride, it's my sincere pleasure to nominate the Daniel McKizzie family, for the Angel in Adoption (tm) award. Daniel is a senior mechanical designer in property development as well as a pastor. When he and his wife were married, they each brought children from previous marriages into their home. Because of their warmth and kindness, they decided to become foster parents. Over the next decade, they hosted numerous foster children in ther home, many of whom were at-risk youth or teenagers. Last November, Daniel and his wife officially became the adoptive parents of two boys named Cornell and Charles, after having been their foster parents for nearly a year and a half. Originally they were emergency foster parents for the boys, but when it became clear that it was best for everyone, they decided to adopt them. The adoption of these boys has not stopped Daniel from continuing to serve as a foster parent, and he is still considering adopting kids who he comes across, who may be at risk. Daniel has maintained that he will continue to be a strong advocate for adoption by demonstrating how enriching the process can be to both parents and the children. Daniel has made a tremendous difference in the lives of every one of the many children he has worked with.
