M. Elizabeth Griffin has tens of thousands of children in her care. As the Director of Citizens for Missouri's Children for the past 6 years, she works tirelessly to better the lives of children all across our state by promoting issues affecting adoption, foster care, and family preservation. By partnering with state agencies, community groups, and foundations, Beth strives to create positive change in the lives of Missouri's children, especially those with the greatest need. She led a statewide coalition to make sure Missouri's tobacco settlement went for the benefit of children and youth, and through a collaborative effort with the Department of Social Services, improved the Department's child abuse and neglect protocol. She gets people involved by providing the public and media with updates about pending federal and state legislation that impacts the needs of children, and calls the community to action by issuing alerts and organizing lobby days. Every day, Beth Griffin does the work of angels when she speaks up for kids who cannot speak for themselves.
