Elliot Forsyth

Angels in Adoption 2005 - Washington

Selected by Senator Tom Coburn

Elliot and Whitney Forsyth have been volunteers with the Romanian Evangelical Medical Mission for over 10 years, an experience that inspired them to adopt their first child, Simona. The Sorosyths are now in the process of attempting to adopt a second Romanian-born child, Geta, but have run into problems because of the new European Union legislation which bars intercountry adoption except by biological grandparents. The Forsyths are working with the For the Children-SOS in urging the Romanian government to process all the pending applications for out-of-country adoptions and to revise the legislation that is preventing Romanian-born children from finding families in foreign countries. Mr. Forsyth recently met with Romanian President Traian Basescu in Washington, DC, to reques that 9,000 babies abandoned annually in Romania and the 80,000 children in state care be allowed permanent families through intercountry adoption. The Forsyths continue to work fervently through FTC-SOS with Members of Congress, the White House, and the State Department to finalize the adoption of their little girl.
