Jian Chen is the China Program Director of Holt International Children's Services in Eugene, Oregon. A native of China, she attended Oregon State University, receiving her Master's degree in anthropology. In 1994, she joined Holt International and has been instrumental in developing their unique China Program. Her leadership has helped pave the way for establishing new child welfare programs including foster care, programs for children with disabilities, and training for child care workers. Jian led the first family tour of adoptees and their families to China to reconnect the children with their birth country. Her expertise and understanding of Chinese culture and heritage have been invaluable in building relationships, while her dedication to helping parents better understand and embrace the birth heritage of adopted children has benefited both the children and their adoptive parents. Because of her unwavering commitment and passion for children and adoption, Jian is beloved by the hundreds of children and families whose lives she has touched for more than a decade.
