Mark and Marla Cavanaugh

Angels in Adoption 2005 - Iowa

Selected by Senator Chuck Grassley

Over the last 11 years, Mark and Marla Cavanaugh have had a full household. While many would have their hands full raising three biological children, the Cavanaughs have served as foster parents to over 92 children and even adopted 5 very special children who started in their home as foster children. Currently, they have 7 children in their home: their biological son, the five children they have adopted, and one foster daughter they hope to adopt soon. Within the last year their two biological daughters have gotten married. They not only serve as foster parents in the typical sense but also serve as respite care givers and emergency foster care parents, providing a home for children in need at any time, day or night. The Cavanaughs have had children of all ages and with a variety of needs in their home. They have had numerous children with special needs and have a lot of experience with helping drug-affected chiodlren. Each of the children they have adopted has his or her unique story, and Mark and Marla have worked hard to give them the loving home they deserve. Mark and Marla not only give these children a caring and loving environment, but Marla also homeschools each of the children. She has dedicated her time to giving these children the attention they need in order to succeed and has seen these children make great improvements in their lives. I commend Mark and Marla Cavanaugh for their hard work and commitment to these children who desperately need their love and support.
