Angels in Adoption 2005 - Colorado

Selected by Representative Joel Hefley

Billy Jack and Anne Barrett deserve to be recognized as they have selflessly opened their home and hearts to troubled children. In addition to their own two biological daughters, they adopted four high-risk teens that had been deemed unadoptable. The Barretts had seen the potential of these children and decided they would not give up on them as so many already had. Known as a "horse whisperer," Billy Jack began working to tame the wild nature of the children, just as he had tamed so many horses. Anne Barrett dedicated herself to the home schooling of their children. The Barretts may not have had the financial means - or space - to undertake their new responsibility, but they had plenty of love to make up for it. I commend the Barrett family for the example they set for us all.
